Questions and Answers

Q. What happens in a counselling session?
 
A. During the assessment process a goal or goals for the therapeutic work is agreed to meet your needs for support and what you are experiencing.  An approximate amount of sessions required will also be agreed with regular reviews. Each session can feel different  structured to nurture your needs on that day as well as continuing the work for the agreed goal(s) set. There are occasions where clients choose  to structure a period of time for relaxation into each session the choice and pace is driven by you.

Q. How long are the sessions and what do they cost?

Clients.

A. The sessions offered are 60 minutes long, longer sessions can be arranged to work at a deeper level on a particular area and an addition fee would be charged for this time.

Cost.

Individual work £35 per 60 minute session.

Couples work £50 per 60 minute session.

I offer reduced rates for students and a limited number of places for those on a reduced  income. Please call to discuss further.

Supervisees.

A. Sessions offered are 90minutes long, longer sessions can be arranged and a fee would be charged for this time.

Cost.

£50 per hour.

I offer a reduced fee for counselling students this being £40 per hour.

Q. Are the sessions confidential?
 

A. Yes, all that is discussed in the sessions is kept confidential.  However, I am bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and the law where the is a Duty to Report and Duty of Care. There are circumstances in which confidentiality may have to be overridden, if anything is heard concerning harm to self, harm to others, any illegal activity or termism activity.  In these circumstances I would discuss what I am concerned about with you and what I feel I need to do before sharing the information in line with my professional, Ethical and legal obligations.

 

Trust & Confidentiality

Q. What is supervision?

 

A. To ensure safe practice and the safety of client and therapist I am bound by the BACP to undertake monthly supervision. During supervision my case load is discussed with a qualified supervisor.  No personal details are disclosed to the supervisor it is purely the work to ensure ethical practice.

 

 

Q. What if I miss an appointment or cannot attend?
 

A. I require at least 24 hours notice to cancel or rearrange an appointment. 
Should no contact be recieved or the appointment be rearranged within the same working week then the full fee will be payable by you.
